AEI Energy Map - City of New Orleans
A Comprehensive and Interactive Visualization of Monthly Energy Use in New Orleans
WORK IN PROGRESS
In partnership with the U.S. DOE Better Communities Alliance, AEI used 3 years of monthly billing data from the City of New Orleans to construct this interactive AEI Energy Map™ visualization. With nothing more than utility bills and square footage, visualizations such as these can provide a valuable resource for municipalities, campuses and commercial property owners to trend their sustainability goals. In the case of New Orleans, the dataset contains detailed billing records for 175 facilities comprising over 12 million square feet of floor space. A current effort is to incorporate a separate dataset of just under 7,000 residential and commercial solar arrays into the map.
The New Orleans project represents a scenario where many different datasets can be combined into a highly unified experience that can be used for many things, from utility billing reconciliation to city planning.
